CHICAGO — Mayor Brandon Johnson signed an executive order Wednesday that aims to stop corporations from doing business in Chicago if they engage in what the mayor calls corrupt and abusive practices, including taking part in aggressive federal deportation campaigns.
The order, Executive Order 2026-06, prohibits contracts with companies that have committed workplace discrimination or wage theft and also requires the disclosure of contracts with immigration agencies.

According to a news release from the mayor’s office, the order “responds to growing concerns about corporate conduct that undermines democratic norms, weakens labor and civil rights protections, and enables government overreach and the militarization of civil immigration enforcement.”
