A semitruck crashed, tipped over and leaked fuel on the side of U.S. 36 west of Lyons on Wednesday morning, prompting officials to close the highway for more than an hour.
The westbound driver lost control of the semi around 9:19 a.m. when it blew a tire heading into a curve near mile marker 16 on U.S. 36, according to spokesperson Sherri Mendez. The semi came to a rest on the west side of the highway, where it sat leaking fuel when troopers arrived, Mendez wrote in an email.
