August 27 Severe Storm Risk Expanded Today: Morning Showers Then Focus This Evening

August 27 Thursday Morning Report

A cluster of thundershowers developed early this morning and passed through North Central Maryland into Southern Pennsylvania by 6 AM. The reason I highlight this is because the short-range models did not depict this properly, which is important for the rest of the day. The simulations are suggestions, but I suspect we will be more active than what I show below.

There is an expanded risk for severe storms today into more of Central Maryland, with a focus on this evening and tonight. Then we will shift focus to a nice weekend with climbing heat and humidity next week.

The suggestion here is a building line of thunderstorms that may slow down and take a few hours to cross metro areas tonight. This is why the chance for severe criteria is lower on Delmarva… a later arrival overnight.
