Still, Dolly could bring heavy rains and gusty winds to the Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Hispaniola between Saturday and Monday. Some models even suggest the remnants might regain strength near the Bahamas or Bermuda next week, though it’s too early to tell.
Fans and observers have noted the strange timing, with some expressing discomfort about the storm sharing the late singer’s name. However, storm names are only retired if a cyclone is notably deadly or destructive-a fate Dolly has not met. The 2026 hurricane season itself has been unusually quiet, with Dolly marking the first named storm but no hurricanes yet reported.
