David Bellamy remembers Dolly Parton: ‘She was just Dolly’

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — For David Bellamy, one half of the Bellamy Brothers, Dolly Parton was more than a music icon.

She was someone he knew for more than four decades, worked alongside and eventually recorded with.

Bellamy said the Bellamy Brothers first met Parton around 1980 or 1981. Over the years, their paths continued to cross on tour and at shows around the country.

In 2005, that relationship brought them into the recording studio together for the Bellamy Brothers’ “Angels and Outlaws” project. Parton joined them for a duet of their 1979 hit, “If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body (Would You Hold It Against Me).”…
