CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Cedar Rapids is preparing to replace the nearly 90-year-old 8th Avenue Bridge over the Cedar River with a higher, wider bridge designed to work with the city’s flood control system.
Community members had a chance Wednesday to learn more about the project, which is expected to begin next year. City leaders said the existing bridge, built in 1937, has reached the end of its useful life.
