New Orleans attorney pleads guilty to defrauding client out of $250K

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – A New Orleans defense attorney admitted to defrauding her client’s family out of $250,000 in federal court Thursday morning.

Tanzanika Ruffin pleaded guilty to a count of wire fraud. When U.S. district Judge Anna St. John asked Ruffin if she was pleading guilty because she was in fact guilty, Ruffin replied, “I am.”

Fox 8 first reported the allegations against Tanzanika Ruffin last December. Then, a federal grand jury indicted Ruffin on a count of wire fraud in March this year. At an arraignment in April, prosecutors said Ruffin defrauded another client after she was indicted…
