‘Society has failed them’: Gee and Ursula say Alderwood Mall guilty plea exposes how easy it is for kids to get guns

The teen who killed 13-year-old Jayda Woods-Johnson with a stray bullet at Alderwood Mall in 2024 pleaded guilty to second-degree murder Wednesday, but for Gee Scott and Ursula Reutin, co-hosts of “The Gee and Ursula Show” on KIRO Newsradio, the plea is less about one case and more about a system that keeps putting guns in children’s hands.

Samuel Gizaw, now 18, entered his guilty plea in Snohomish County Superior Court and apologized to the family, according to KIRO 7.

“I made such a horrible mistake at such a young age that affected the lives of many people,” Gizaw said in court. “I hope that today’s guilty plea brings more closure to the family.”…
