“Walking into a great blessing”: City of Columbia helping employees become homeowners

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) — Turning dreams into reality, that’s what the city of Columbia is looking to do with a new affordable housing program looking to help city workers be first time homeowners.

“I’m going to be walking into a great blessing, it’s a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom house, brand new, built from the ground,” Tracy Chapman, Asst. Recreation Superintendent for the City of Columbia, said.

Chapman closed on a new home Thursday afternoon thanks to the City of Columbia’s “Keys to a Dream” program. It helps City of Columbia employees like Chapman become first-time homeowners in the city…
