Gables House Burglarized While Owners Killed in Kenya Air Disaster
Henry Parra and Adam Hlavaty were still being mourned when someone decided to rob their home.
The Coral Gables couple was among seven people killed on August 19, 2026, when a helicopter crashed near Mount Ololokwe in Samburu County, Kenya. They were on safari. They never came home. And within 24 to 48 hours of that news going public, burglars were already inside their house on Valencia Avenue.
The Break-In
Sometime between Thursday and Saturday after the crash, the home was ransacked. The housekeeper discovered it on Sunday and called police.
The thieves took personal and business documents, jewelry, electronics, artwork, a 2023 Land Rover, and a 2020 Porsche Taycan. One sculpture alone was valued at over $500,000. The security camera was ripped off the wall. The front door was destroyed.
Who Was Targeted
Henry Parra, 55, was a U.S. Navy veteran and co-founder of Trax USA, a Coral Gables-based aviation software company. Adam Hlavaty, 42, was a real estate executive, co-founder of MRKT Group, and a board member of the Coral Gables Museum.
