LAFAYETTE, La. (NEWS 15) — A small electrical fire broke out in a second-floor office at Lafayette City Hall, but employees put out the flames before firefighters arrived, according to the Lafayette Fire Department.
Officials said Lafayette firefighters responded to the building at 705 W. University Ave. after an employee called 911 to report the fire on Thursday, Aug. 27, just after 1:45 p.m.
They explained a Lafayette Consolidated Government employee reported hearing a loud popping sound in the office and seeing sparks flying from an electrical outlet. They added coworkers were notified, and a fire extinguisher was used to douse the flames before firefighters arrived on scene…
