In what appears to be a case of human error amplified by surveillance technology, footage of a traffic stop where officers had their guns aimed at innocent citizens has been released. A Flock Safety automatic license plate reader alerted Brookfield police to a license plate reportedly connected to an ongoing Milwaukee homicide investigation, but the occupants were not the ones they were looking for. It turned out that Milwaukee police failed to delete the false information from the Flock database, resulting in a frightening experience for the occupants.
CBS 58 Milwaukee reported on the incident when Brookfield police conducted a high-risk traffic stop on Interstate 94 on August 6 based on a Flock camera alert regarding the homicide investigation involving an armed suspect.
Footage of the stop has now been released, showing how multiple officers had their guns and rifles pointed at the occupants, ordering them to step out of the car. Both occupants complied and allowed the police to investigate, leading officers to find a major error that potentially put innocent lives at risk…
