Advocates from the Freedom Community Center in St. Louis said in recent weeks they’ve been receiving an influx of calls from detainees and their loved ones about poor conditions inside the St. Louis City Justice Center.
In a press release issued Thursday, they said they’re receiving reports of jail residents suffering seizures and fainting spells. They said medical staff has refused to tend to detainees’ needs despite high temperatures inside cells, which exacerbate the medical emergencies.
