Twenty-six pugs were removed from an unsanitary home in San Antonio in a rescue that underscores how quickly companion animals can end up in dangerous conditions when basic care breaks down.

On the 300 block of Clarence Street, Animal Care Services removed 26 dogs with help from the San Antonio Police Department’s SAFFE unit and patrol officers, officials said, according to KENS 5 (via Yahoo News).
These pugs were reportedly experiencing “unsanitary habitation.” The San Antonio Police Department later shared an image of some of the rescued pugs.
The animals were taken from the home because the sheer number of dogs there, combined with the state of the property, indicated they were not getting proper care. Now, multiple charges have been filed against the owner.
