SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The city’s internal review committee shared details from two recent audits on how the city handles payroll and one of its agreements with the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House.
Many of these assessments examine city initiatives worth thousands of dollars and the findings were made public during a meeting Wednesday at Carnegie Town Hall.
What is the Audit Committee?
According to the City of Sioux Falls, the Audit Committee comprises four city council members and three citizens to analyze the inner workings of city management and its many departments on a bipartisan basis.
Established in 2005, the Audit Committee is independent of the city administration and helps to establish a multiyear audit plan that oversees tasks performed by various departments. Essentially, the auditors ensure that each department and its projects function as they should.
