Rhimmington Walker, 64, of San Antonio, Texas, is accused of being in possession of a stolen U-Haul trailer between July 23 at 12:52 p.m. and Aug. 13 at 10 a.m. at the Clay National Guard Center in Marietta, according to an arrest warrant from the Cobb County Police Department.
Walker claimed he found the Texas listing on Facebook Marketplace and met with “possible” U-Haul employees to purchase the trailer. Instead of renting the trailer like normal from U-Haul, Walker claimed he paid $500 to purchase the trailer from the “employees” who claimed they were going out of business. Walker did not receive any paperwork associated with the vehicle, a bill of sale, a receipt or any other common purchase paperwork, according to the warrant.
Walker never attempted to register the trailer and left it stored at the Clay National Guard Center, a military base he was not assigned to, with a boot on the trailer to prevent it from being moved. Walker said he did not believe it was normal for U-Haul to advertise on Facebook Marketplace or for no paperwork to be associated with the sale.
