‘Sympathy is no longer enough.’ United Bodegas of America demands change after recent shootings

The United Bodegas of America is demanding safety improvements and help from public officials after two recent shootings in New York City.

The organization released a statement listing the need for panic buttons connected to law enforcement, mandatory prison sentences for offenders illegally carrying guns, as well as the legal right and training for workers to defend themselves.

“Sympathy is no longer enough,” read the statement. “We thank the FBI for getting involved, showing that it cares and supporting reward efforts to help bring those responsible to justice. But federal intervention should not be necessary before our city and state leaders take action.”…
