SOCORRO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — A 19-year-old facing upgraded murder charges in connection with a deadly Socorro shooting in December was rearrested in the courtroom on Friday after pleading not guilty.
On Dec. 27, 2025, at a residence in the 10100 block of Cyan Valley just off Nuevo Hueco Tanks Road, a house party turned deadly when shots were fired from a vehicle. The homeowner, 33-year-old Jose Avila, was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound and later died from his injuries.
