SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) —Happy Friday, Utah! We’re tracking partly to mostly cloudy skies across the state for our Friday afternoon.
Today’s weather: Isolated showers
Isolated showers and storms will develop across the higher terrain, mainly east of I-15 and south of I-70 Friday afternoon. The chance for showers and storms will spread westward towards the rest of Utah late Friday afternoon into the evening hours.

The Storm Prediction Center has again placed most of Utah under a level 1 “Marginal” risk for the potential for some gusty outflow winds from any storms that develop. Daytime highs will warm into the lower 90s across the Wasatch Front. High temperatures will warm into the lower 100s across SW Utah.
Weekend outlook: Scattered storms
Look for the chance for showers and storms Friday night into Saturday morning, but becoming more widespread, Saturday afternoon and evening. The Storm Prediction Center has placed most of northern Utah under a level 2 “Slight” risk for severe weather for Saturday afternoon.
This risk designation includes a higher probability for some possible damaging winds gusts with any thunderstorms ahead of the cold front. A good chance of scattered showers and storms will continue through the weekend, especially south of I-80 and east of I-15 into Sunday.
Rainfall totals look to average between 0.25″-0.75″ across most of Utah, but some areas will likely see 1″+ totals where thunderstorms are able to train across the same areas. The flash flood threat becomes probable across most of our recreation areas in southern Utah this weekend. The threat for isolated flash flooding also becomes elevated across the rest of Utah.
Looking ahead: Unsettled conditions
The trough to our north that brings the cold front into the state will bring a decent cool down for the weekend into next week. Daytime highs will drop into the 80s across the Wasatch Front. High temperatures will dip down into the 90s across SW Utah…
