Former St. John teacher gets jail time in Whitman County case

COLFAX, Wash. — Former St. John teacher Mackenzie Naught was sentenced after a conviction for first-degree sexual misconduct with a minor.

According to a release from the Whitman County Prosecutor’s Office, Naught was ordered to serve six months in jail, which was the shortest sentence allowed in the case. The release said prosecutors, the victim and the victim’s family had asked for 12 months.

Naught also must complete a psychosexual evaluation, follow any treatment that is recommended and spend 12 months on community supervision after release. She also must register as a sex offender for 10 years…
