Robert “Harper” Foley, a 19-year-old sophomore at the University of Alabama, has died after a brief illness. He passed away on August 23, 2026, in Dallas, Texas, where his family had settled following his father’s military retirement.
Harper was born on May 18, 2007, in Kansas City, Kansas, to retired U.S. Army Brigadier General David Clifford Foley and Claire White Foley.
As the son of a career military officer, he grew up moving frequently, living at postings including Fort Campbell in Kentucky, Fort Hood in Texas, Carlisle Barracks in Pennsylvania, Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington, and MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. Friends and family say he adjusted to each new home with ease, building friendships wherever the family landed.
