More than 80 percent of the defendants federally charged with selling fentanyl in downtown Portland over the past three years are illegal aliens from Honduras and Mexico, according to the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon.
US Attorney Scott Bradford announced Tuesday that federal prosecutors have charged more than 100 defendants since 2023 as part of a coordinated crackdown on fentanyl trafficking in downtown Portland. More than 80 percent were illegal aliens from Honduras and Mexico who were unlawfully residing in Oregon.
The cases have resulted in the seizure of more than 100 kilograms of fentanyl, 40 firearms and $1.3 million in drug proceeds. Federal prosecutors said the amount of fentanyl seized was enough to kill approximately 50 million people — roughly 11 times Oregon’s population…
