A small airplane made an emergency landing in the rural Riverside County community of Mecca Saturday evening.
The crash landing happened around 6:07 p.m. near the intersection of Avenue 68 and Lincoln Street, according to Cal Fire. A photo of the scene shows the banged-up plane lying in brush, feet from a public road.
The pilot was able to escape the wreck without serious injury. No passengers were aboard the plane at the time of the emergency.
