DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The Vandalia and Butler Twp. responded to a report of a lithium battery-powered scooter fire at an apartment complex on Friday afternoon.
The scooter was reportedly taken from a nearby dumpster earlier in the day and plugged into an outlet in the common hallway to charge.
“The battery failed, began smoking, then sparking, then arcing, and then caught fire. An adult in the apartment building heard the commotion and grabbed the scooter and charger and threw it outside, preventing a large fire from occurring,” wrote the Vandalia Division of Fire.
