Construction of the New BART Connector in Lafayette is Well Underway

LAFAYETTE, CALIFORNIA — A better connection between downtown Lafayette and BART is taking shape, with construction moving ahead on a project that will bring an improved walking and biking route, a public plaza, and more bicycle parking to the station’s south entrance.

The Lafayette Town Center Pathway and BART Bike Station project is designed to make the trip between Mount Diablo Boulevard and the station easier for people arriving on foot or by bike. Work Moves Ahead

Recent city updates show crews working on the infrastructure that will support the new public space. We stopped by and saw the massive construction site firsthand.

In its August 14 construction report, Lafayette said the contractor had installed reinforcing steel and formwork for two art pole foundations. The next scheduled tasks included electrical conduit, storm drainage, irrigation sleeves, and concrete work…
