OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — An Oklahoma City police lieutenant thought he was heading into an ordinary day at work. Instead, he was greeted by his son, Officer James Shaw, who had just returned after a year-long military deployment overseas.
The reunion happened inside a department garage and was captured on video shared by the Oklahoma City Police Department. In the footage, Officer Shaw walks in wearing his uniform and goes straight to his father, who serves with the same agency.
The department helped make the moment happen. It also said the homecoming was especially meaningful because the two men were brought back together at the place where they both wear the badge.
