‘I don’t want our future generations to have to do this’: Run for Healing, Run for Justice shines light on missing and murdered Indigenous women

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Runners gathered at Kincaid Park Saturday for a yearly 5K run with a commemorative and instructional purpose.

The sixth annual Run for Healing, Run for Justice aims to shine light on the missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls in Alaska and throughout the nation.

“This is an awareness run,” Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2-Spirit (MMIWG2S) Alaska Working Group co-founder Charlene Aqpik Apok said. “Just a way for people to come together in a healthy way, in a celebratory way.”…
