‘Angels were watching’: Fresno family speaks after surviving house fire started by e-scooter

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A Fresno family is asking for the community’s help following a house fire that nearly destroyed the entire home.

On Thursday, the Fresno Fire Department responded to a fire located at East Dayton Avenue and North Palm Avenue around 3:30 p.m. Officials say the fire was started by an electric e-scooter that caught fire due to the scooter’s lithium-ion battery overcharging.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, electronic vehicle like scooters and bikes should be charged in a flat, dry, area. The area should also be away from children and direct sunlight…
