A 45-year-old Haines City man died early Sunday after the motorcycle he was riding ran off Innovation Way in Orange County and struck a fence, while a second rider on a separate bike was thrown and hospitalized with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Troopers say the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to FOX 35 Orlando, the crash happened around 1:41 a.m. on Innovation Way south of State Road 434. The man was riding a 2015 Yamaha FZ-09 northbound, while a second motorcyclist was riding a 2022 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14 northbound alongside him. Reports suggest both motorcycles were traveling above the posted speed limit and that the riders failed to negotiate a curve before running off the roadway.
Both riders were thrown from their motorcycles after striking a curb, the outlet reported. The Yamaha rider was later identified as the 45-year-old Haines City man who died at the scene. The Kawasaki rider was transported to AdventHealth Hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening. Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
