Gwinnett cross country runners shine at North Georgia Championships

COMMERCE — Gwinnett County cross country teams fared well in the top Navy Division of the North Georgia Championships on Saturday.

The Wesleyan girls placed third and were joined in the top 10 by Mill Creek in sixth and Buford in ninth, while Brookwood led local boys teams in fifth place followed by Mill Creek’s boys in sixth.

Weezie Moore led Wesleyan in the girls 5K race with a ninth-place finish in 20:03.08, helping the team to 115 points — behind only Marietta’s 31 and Harrison’s 87. She was backed up by Ella McIlravy (18th, 20:37.35), Margaret Moore (22nd, 20:43.28), Sydney Brubaker (25th, 20:52.65), Chloe Creel (41st, 21:26.34), Sarah Bates Gram (47th, 21:40.80), Eva Foster (67th, 22:46.35) Jesslyn Ryan (85th, 23:33.35) and Haley Roebuck (93rd, 23:53.49)…
