Greater Richmond Coptic Festival celebrates community, Christian values

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The 5th annual Greater Richmond Coptic Festival returned this weekend with food, live music and community-centered values.

The event at St. Mina and Pope Jyrillous Coptic Orthodox Church in Chesterfield County highlighted community, great Egyptian food and handmade crafts and items by kids. With several stations and booths to explore, attendees spent the day connecting and discovering.

“The biggest thing here at the festival [is] that we are open for the community,” said Father Samuel Tadrous, priest at St. Mina and Pope. “We want to bridge any gaps between the church and the community. We want to insert the Christian values and the values that we [raise] our children and our kids with.”

The two-day event also featured church tours exploring the history and traditions of the Coptic faith, organizers said. The festival will return on Sunday from noon to 8 p.m…
