An Iowa mother who was taking a nap while her 3-year-old baked in a hot car with temperatures outside in the 90s and then tried to tell cops he died in the garage is headed to prison.
Tiffani Huff Holmes, 42, was sentenced on Friday to two years behind bars, the Polk County Attorney’s Office said. She pleaded guilty last month to involuntary manslaughter, an aggravated misdemeanor, in the death of her son Myles Holmes, court records say. Holmes was originally charged with child endangerment resulting in death, a felony.
Holmes had been drinking that day and initially lied to investigators when she said she found the boy in the garage after waking up from a nap. In fact, she left him in the hot car after returning home with her three kids. She continued to booze it up and eventually fell asleep. She found Myles in the car after she woke up…
