CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) — The Cove, a new homeless shelter, will soon be opening its doors in the midstate.
Community CARES’ newest shelter, a 44-bed men’s and women’s facility on South Spring Garden Street in Carlisle, will be holding open houses for community members beginning Monday, Sept. 14, and lasting through Friday, Sept. 18.

Open houses for business and community members will follow on Monday, Sept. 21, and Tuesday, Sept. 22, respectively, before a friends and neighbors day on Wednesday, Sept. 23, and a grand-opening ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 24. Times for this week are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
In a press release, Community CARES stated that The Cove “represents a significant change” from the organization’s previous shelter models. It will offer 24/7 access along with “smaller, semi-private sleeping areas designed to offer greater privacy, stability and dignity.”…
