NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Some South Nashville residents are asking the Federal Aviation Administration to reconsider changes to departure headings at Nashville International Airport, saying planes are now passing over their homes as often as every few minutes.
Residents in the Crieve Hall and Oak Hill neighborhoods said they noticed a dramatic increase in the frequency of flights after the FAA tested new departure headings in 2024. The headings became permanent in April 2025.
“There are times it’s every five minutes,” Crieve Hall Neighborhood Association President Kelly Insana said. “You sit in your home or you try to sit outside and have a conversation. It’s impossible to do that at times, because it gets too loud.”…
