Country music sensation Ella Langley continues to dominate the charts, recently achieving a remarkable milestone with her hit single, “Choosin’ Texas.” The track has secured the No. 1 position on the Billboard Hot 100 for an impressive 20 weeks, making it only the second song in the chart’s 68-year history to maintain the top spot for this duration. Industry experts are taking notice of Langley’s extraordinary success. Marissa Moss, senior writer at Rolling Stone, told Vox’s Today, Explained podcast that “Choosin’ Texas” could soon surpass Carey’s iconic holiday hit, a development she described as “unpredictable” given the song’s country roots and summer release.
A relative newcomer to the country music scene, Langley released her debut album, Hungover, in 2024, which featured the popular duet “You Look Like You Love Me” with Riley Green. Her sophomore album, Dandelion, launched in 2026 and debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 200 chart. “Choosin’ Texas,” the lead single from Dandelion, was released in October 2025.
Reflecting on the track’s phenomenal success, Langley told Billboard earlier this year, “We loved the song when we wrote it, but none of us thought that it would be the song to do everything it’s doing. It keeps giving us a reason to celebrate new milestones.” The song was co-written by Langley alongside Luke Dick, Miranda Lambert, and Joybeth Taylor.
