SOUTHFIELD — Southfield police have reported that no one was injured in the seven-hour standoff that occurred Aug. 28 at a residence east of Lahser Road and south of 12 Mile Road.
At approximately 2:50 p.m., Southfield police officers arrived at the 21000 block of Winchester Street for a welfare check on an 84-year-old man. According to a press release from the Southfield Police Department, the man had called 911 and sounded confused. Additionally, while en route to the residence, law enforcement reportedly received a 911 call from the man’s wife, who told officers that she had heard a gunshot within the home.
The Southfield SWAT team and negotiators responded to the scene. After approximately seven hours, law enforcement reportedly entered the home and took the man into protective custody without further incident. He was uninjured and turned over to medical personnel, according to Southfield police…
