BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The LSU community is mourning the loss of another legend.
Former LSU All-American and head coach Jerry Stovall died Monday, Aug. 31, in Baton Rouge at the age of 85, LSU Athletics confirmed.
The Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame posted a message on social media following Stovall’s passing, stating in part, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Jerry Stovall, a 1981 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame inductee, following his passing.”
In addition to being inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame, the West Monroe native was a three-time All-SEC selection and Heisman Trophy runner-up. A 1963 first-round NFL Draft selection, Stovall played nine seasons in the NFL for the St. Louis Cardinals…
