More information has been released about the suspected million-dollar drug manufacturing operation Jefferson Parish authorities uncovered inside a Metairie home last week, including details about a confrontation between detectives and the man accused of running the lab.
According to probable cause documents obtained by WWL, detectives were trying to secure the home in the 3900 block of Tolmas Drive while waiting for a search warrant when Anthony Caruso refused to open the door and retreated farther inside.
Detectives said they feared Caruso was destroying evidence, so they forced their way into the home. They encountered Caruso on a staircase, where he allegedly refused to follow their commands. An altercation followed, and detectives used a Taser and closed-fist strikes to get him into custody, according to the documents.

After Caruso was arrested, detectives executed a search warrant and discovered what they described as a clandestine laboratory containing glass instruments, precursor chemicals and bottles used to manufacture anabolic steroids for resale.
