Police arrest gang member facing multiple weapons charges following Rockford brawl

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) —

Rockford Police were called to the 600 block of N. Day Avenue around 6:39 p.m. on Saturday for reports of two men fighting in the street, with witnesses saying at least one was armed with a gun.

When officers arrived, they watched Demarco Sallis, 36, who was bleeding from the face, walk into a home. The investigating officer claimed the occupants of the home lied about Sallis entering the home but later persuaded him to come to the door; when he did, he gave the officer a false name and birthdate, according to the arrest record…
