The case began in mid-June, when the 16-year-old vanished, according to FOX 10 Phoenix. Phoenix Police formally requested help from the U.S. Marshals Service on July 16, and investigators spent weeks tracking leads tied to people suspected of facilitating her online exploitation and physical transportation, per a U.S. Marshals Service statement relayed through a Facebook post. Officials say the teen had been believed to face a high risk of severe abuse and commercial sexual exploitation.
That investigation led the Arizona Wanted Violent Offender Task Force to the Tolleson residence, where officers secured the 16-year-old inside the home at roughly 5:50 p.m. on August 26. Task force members then encountered a second female at the same address, who was identified as an unreported missing child and victim of commercial sex trafficking tied to the same investigation, the station’s report notes.
