SELKIRK, N.Y. (NEWS10)– A female driver was hurt Sunday morning after losing control and crashing into a pole in Selkirk. According to the Selkirk Fire Department, the crash happened just before 5 a.m. on River Road.

Fire Chief Tom Neri said the car was heading south on River Road when she reportedly lost control, crossed into the northbound lane, went into the ditch and struck the utlity pole.
He said she was able to leave the car on her own accord and only sustained minor injuries.
River Road was closed for several hours as crews worked to investigate and repair the broken pole. According to Neri, with the pole broken, the crossing wires became lower than their legal height so they had to close until National Grid could repair the pole.
