SPENCER COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT) — An Evansville man has been sentenced after causing a fatal crash under the influence of drugs.
According to the Spencer County Prosecutor’s Office, Lindsey Baxter, 30, was sentenced to 15 years in prison, 3 years on home detention and 4 years on probation, combining to a 22-year sentence. He was convicted on operating a vehicle with a schedule I or II controlled substance in the blood causing death and serious bodily injury.
Officials say Larry Lindsey, 54, and Barry Morris, 64, were killed in that crash on March 24. Police say Baxter had a significant quantity of Fentanyl in his blood, causing him to drive erratically and crash head-on into the victim’s vehicle.

“One person’s decision to get behind the wheel with dangerous narcotics in their system has ended two lives, seriously injured another, and left families, friends, and communities devastated,” says the prosecutor’s office. “The Prosecutor’s Office recognizes that no sentencing outcome can undo these losses, but we hope this measure of accountability under the law brings a sense of justice to each and every person affected by this unfathomable tragedy.
