J. Harrison Ghee has stepped down from their role in the national tour of “Oh, Mary!” weeks before the show is set to open in San Francisco.
The nonbinary actor’s decision came “at the recommendation of their medical team,” following a battle with kidney disease, according to a statement.
“I’m so grateful to the producers and the entire company of ‘Oh, Mary!’ for the extraordinary support, care and understanding they’ve shown me during this time,” Ghee said in a statement released Thursday, Sept. 17. “Stepping away isn’t easy, but I know I’m doing it surrounded by people who genuinely support me, and that means more than I can say.”…
