A building once home to a beloved barbecue spot has been revived as a new tenant moves in. San Antonio’s Eastside is welcoming Oringo Africana to the area on Saturday, September 19.
Founder and owner Ugochukwu Christian Ijoma tells MySA that the community can expect “bold, authentic West African flavors and generous portions” at the restaurant at 1701 E. Houston Street. The site is less than a mile away from the Alamodome, near downtown, and was formerly home to Dignowity Meats.
Folks can expect tasty menu items, including egusi and fufu, jollof rice, okra, grilled tilapia, and more. Most dishes are priced between $15 and $40, depending on the meal and protein, according to Ijoma. It opens at noon and closes when it sells out.
This isn’t Oringo Africana’s first business endeavor. It previously operated out of a food truck at 111 Probandt Street, not far from the Blue Star Arts Complex.
