CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Cleveland is expected to announce what will happen to 12 of the 18 closed Cleveland Metropolitan School District buildings on Friday. Mayor Justin Bibb has said he wants to reuse them for purposes that benefit the community.
A statement from the City of Cleveland on Thursday said, “We have already informed several members of council and will continue to provide them updates on the process. We look forward to communicating the results of the RFQ to the broader public [Friday].”

Buildings part of consolidation plan
The 12 buildings are part of CMSD’s Building Better Futures Plan, which closed dozens of schools and consolidated others. Most of the buildings sit on Cleveland’s east side, an area represented by Councilman Mike Polensek.
