BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Kern County officials are seeking the Board of Supervisors’ approval to accept nearly $2 million from a federal agency to purchase a new firefighting vehicle for aircrafts, according to the regular meeting agenda for Tuesday.
The grant, if accepted, would reimburse the Kern County Department of Airports’ purchase of a new aircraft rescue fire fighting vehicle, also known as ARFF.
ARFF vehicles are specialized aircraft and firefighting vehicles used at airports. They are designed to quickly respond to aircraft emergencies, including fires, crashes and fuel spills, according to the county.
