Albuquerque Lists Almost 200 City-Owned Parcels for Housing, Gardens, and Other Projects

Albuquerque has almost 200 city-owned parcels sitting empty around town—and Mayor Tim Keller wants residents, developers, and community groups to start doing something with them.

Through the city’s new Available City Properties program, those parcels are now listed on an interactive online map, open for ideas and proposals covering housing, commercial businesses, community gardens, parks, and event venues. Fourteen of those sites are already under contract.

“We have unused land all around the city, while people here have unrealized ideas,” Keller said in a press release. “Now we’re connecting those dots instead of letting these places sit empty. This is taxpayer land, and it’s time we democratize it and give you the freedom to use it.”…
