Marion man found not guilty of murdering son seeking outside mental health evaluation

MARION, Iowa (KCRG) – A Marion man found not guilty by reason of insanity for strangling his son to death is seeking a mental health evaluation from a doctor outside of the mental health institute where he is hospitalized.

In August, a judge ruled Matthew Schleier would remain at the Cherokee Mental Health Institute to monitor his behavior.
