UNC-Chapel Hill will no longer use an artificial intelligence tool in its admissions process to scan application essays and rate the grammar and writing quality.
That’s because those applicants are increasingly using AI tools of their own to avoid errors that would’ve originally been caught by the university’s scanners. The AI-generated ratings for the application essays kept getting higher and higher until they became meaningless, the university said.
