SFD and Signal 51 responded to the 8900 block of Jewella – site of the previous South Park Mall and now home to Summer Grove Baptist Church. A fire was reported in an interior room and upon arrival, first-in company, Engine 15, was directed to the area where the fire was located. Upon entering the room, crews were confronted with heavy smoke and high heat. The sprinkler system had activated aiding in the ability to bring the fire under control quickly. The next task was evacuating the smoke from the large space.
